A charismatic, witty teacher who made Forensic Sciences so much more accessible and enjoyable. He was also one of the most experienced and well-respected Forensic Pathologists, performing autopsies and testifying in court for many high profile cases in the pursuit of justice for his patients and South Africa’s innocent.
He had an amazing sense of humor. Loved and respected by all. He was an amazing person with a heart of gold.
Kemp was a true renaissance man — brilliant mind, sportsman of note, genuinely humble and kind and he knew how to have fun too. He will be remembered for his air of being an absent-minded professor and his gentleness. There was very little in his manner that is belligerent or malevolent so he tended to win over even those he cross-examed and the judges before whom he appeared.
He was a people’s person and would answer people’s calls for help at any part of the day or night. Sam was a hero. His passion to eradicate the scourge of drugs and help addicts recover was his striking characteristic. Religion was never a barrier for Sam. He was resolute and he was hated by drug dealers with a passion. Many tried to silence him.
He was very passionate about teaching and was also a very good manager. He was very humble and popular with both teachers and learners.
Being a policeman was not just a job for DWO Visvanathan. It was his passion. He was dedicated and loved what he did, and that was protecting people and ensuring criminals were brought to book. He was never afraid of hard work and putting in the extra hours.

Dave was always ready to offer leadership, guidance, wisdom, care and compassion to all who needed it.
