Starting his career in TV as a full-time actor in 1968 and later director, Franz went on to write numerous TV series, and mini-series between 1980 and 2000. He was a workaholic who gave his life for the soap opera, especially at the beginning. Franz was bigger than life itself. His personality, the way he criticized, his writing talent, his creative skills, what he learned all about soap operas abroad, and the way he worked with you (as a writer) and how he intervened if things went awry. One could fill books about him. But only with this an acknowledgment to Franz as the undisputed and highly-respected king of soap operas. Many people who still write soap operas today have learned from him.
He was dedicated to economic transformation and the reconstruction and development of South Africa. Sisulu would be remembered for his generosity and integrity. Sisulu was known for being an astute businessman with interests in mining, media, property, and other commercial endeavours.
