Mahlangu has been described as a strong leader in traditional structures and an advocate for the administration of land rights, who stood firm against gender-based violence. Mahlangu played a significant part in strengthening the role of traditional leadership at the local sphere of government as well as deepening the values of constitutional democracy and the principles of cooperative governance.
